Best way to Know if rice is Cooked:

Take out a grain of cooked rice, squeeze it with thumb and a finger. If you feel any hard stuff inside the cooked rice, then the rice is not done. Nepali rice is not too wet and sticky. The rice grains that are fluffy, somewhat separated from each other and soft are considered well cooked.

Yomari - Winter Sweet

Yomari

Yomari is a delicacy of Newars. It consists of an external covering of rice-flour and an inner content of sweet substances such as Chaku. The delicacy plays a very important role in Newar society. According to some, the triangular shape of the yomari is symbolical representation of one half of shadkona, the symbol of Saraswati and wisdom.

Chatamari - Nepali pizza

Chatamari:

Chatamari is crepe made out of rice floor and topped with chopped or ground red meat with seasoning. Chatamari is similar to South Indian Dosa. Dosa is thinner and crisper than Chatamari and Dosa is also rolled up and served with toping inside.

The presented recipe of Chatamari is an adapted recipe. The original recipe does not have eggs in the rice flour and the meat topping is not cooked separately. In the traditional recipe, the meat is cooked over the rice flour.

Sagarmatha-Mt. Everest

Sagarmatha National Park


The Sagarmatha National Park is the highest national park in world, located above 3000 meters i.e. 9700 feet. The park comprises the upper catchment areas of Dudh Kosi and Bhote Kosi Rivers. Most part of the landscape is rugged terrain and gorges of the high Himalayas. The Park is located amidst the peaks which are counted among the tallest in the world. Mount Sagarmatha is none other than Mt. Everest itself. Other well known peaks such as Lhotse, Thamerku, Pumori, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, Kwangde, Kangtaiga and Gyachyung Kang are also located nearby. More than 118 species of birds and 26 species of butterflies reside in the park.


UNESCO World Heritage Site


The Mt. Sagarmatha (Everest) and the surrounding areas are important not only to Nepal but also to the rest of the world. too. Its recognition as a National Park since 1976 intends to protect its unique cultural, physical and scientific values.


The UNESCO recognised Sagarmatha National Park as a world heritage site in 1976 as the park 'contains superlative natural beauty and is of great aesthetic importance'.
